Tips on How to Use Discipline When Raising a Child

Parents know how difficult it can be to properly raise a child. They also know that disciplining a child is sometimes needed, to set the necessary boundaries. The following are some useful tips you can use:

  • Discipline means to teach, not punish.
  • Discipline is good for your child. It makes them feel safe.
  • You must teach your child what they can and cannot do. This is sometimes called "setting limits."
  • Provide a safe place for your child to explore and learn. Remove anything you don't want them to get into.

As many parents know, children want to be good, but often don't know how. To help your child do the right thing, stop oncoming bad behavior by saying, 'Let's do this instead,' and show your child how.
