Early Care and Education Sector is a Major Economic Catalyst in Los Angeles County


Dr. Gary Mangiofico (CEO of LAUP), Alicia Lara (VP, Community Investment of United Way of Greater Los Angeles and LA County Supervisors Don Knabe and Yvonne B. Burke address the media at the press conference held at the California Endownment about the study.

A $210,000 study funded by a collaboration of LAUP, Los Angeles County Child Care Planning Committee and the city of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board found that the Early Care and Education sector generates more than $1.9 billion annually in Los Angeles County and employs more than 65,000 people.

Family Childcare Providers Benefit From Financial Reporting Software

LAUP provider Ofelia Aguilar of Aguilar Family Childcare in South El Monte used to spend hours manually preparing and completing financial reports related to her business. So when LAUP offered to provide her an accounting software program called QuickBooks, which allowed her to track expenses, prepare and send invoices, prepare financial statements and perform many other tasks, she jumped on the opportunity.
