Supporters of Early Education Join LAUP at Annual Dodger Day Event
LAUP's Third Annual Dodger Day took place recently with about 2,000 supporters in attendance at Dodger Stadium, where they watched the Dodgers take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and helped raise money for the preschool cause.
"This year's Dodger Day was an enormous success," said Celia C. Ayala, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer. "Families from all over Los Angeles County joined together to celebrate access to quality early childhood education. Overall, it was a wonderful celebration and I am very grateful to our supporters who participated and helped create a memorable day."
LAUP employee Beth Kleinman said "Dodger Day" was a family event with a vital message.
"It's really important to get our name out in the community and promote our message of the importance of quality early childhood education," she said. "Going to Dodger Day was a great way for LAUP to spread our message."
Supporters in attendance of the June 26 event included LAUP employees such as Kleinman and their families, as well as LAUP preschool providers, students and families. "I enjoyed spending time with my family and seeing the kids sitting near us from Rainbow Child Development Center," said LAUP staff member Sandra Bernal. "It was fun to be there."
The Dodgers' last-minute 3-2 win against the Angels added to the day's excitement and provided a positive ending to the event.
LAUP would like to thank the following sponsors whose contributions ensured a successful Dodger Day: Lakeshore Learning Materials, BP America, Scholastic, Inc., Kaplan Early Learning, Mattel, Inc., Charles Mason & Associates, and Warner Constructors, Inc.
We would also like to thank Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky for joining LAUP on that day, and for throwing the first pitch on game day in support of the preschool cause.
