The Hispanic Outreach Taskforce has bestowed its Positive Image Award on Celia C. Ayala, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer of LAUP.

During the event, Dr. Ayala also was recognized by Comerica Bank for her leadership in Education. She also received a commendation from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, in recognition of her dedicated service to the affairs of the community and for the civic pride demonstrated by numerous contributions for the benefit of all the citizens of Los Angeles County.  

The Hispanic Outreach Taskforce recognizes outstanding achievement in education, business and humanitarian efforts, and celebrates individuals who have greatly contributed in their communities. 

Its mission is to improve the quality-of-life of Hispanics and the community through programs in education, health, economic development, financial literacy and cultural arts.

"I am truly honored by this recognition," Dr. Ayala said. "This will only motivate me to work even harder for the children in Los Angeles County, to increase their access to quality early childhood education. I believe very strongly that education is the key to success in life for all children, and that includes the Latino community."

Dr. Ayala officially received her Positive Image Award May 16 at an event held in Monterey Park. Past award recipients include a host of elected and appointed officials, celebrities and business leaders throughout country. They include former Advisor to President George W. Bush, Ivette Fernandez, and renowned film producer Montezuma Esparza.
