Week of the Young Child, April 11-17, is an annual nationwide celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the world's largest association advocating the importance of early childhood education.

Because LAUP believes early childhood years lay the foundation for children's future success in school and life, we are hosting several activities during the 2010 Week of the Young Child. Children and families will be participating in three distinct activities that will build awareness for the importance of preschool and bring attention to your program. The activities include:

• “Dream Big” Art Exhibit at the Bridge at L.A. City Hall (April 5-30th)
  For the month of April, LAUP preschoolers in the City of Los Angeles will have their artwork featured at the Bridge in City Hall. The theme of the artwork is “Dream Big: what do you want to be when you grow up."

• Open House Listing now available!
  LAUP preschool providers all around L.A. County will be hosting open houses during the Week of the Young Child. Click here to view a complete listing of preschools hosting Open Houses in your community.

• “Play Day in the Park” (April 10 from 10 a.m. -2 p.m.)
  LAUP is hosting three FREE community events simultaneously in Long Beach, Pomona and San Gabriel Valley, on Sat., April 10, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. At each event, LAUP preschool providers will showcase their programs to their community and provide developmentally appropriate activities for young children.  Parents will be able to enroll their children, learn more about LAUP and the importance of quality preschool, and local community agencies will be on hand.
