LAUP RENEW LA County has selected 78 providers to participate as implementation sites in the upcoming school year 2011-2012. These sites will focus on developing policies that sustain life-long healthy habits in nutrition and physical activity.

A Garden Sprouts Healthy Habits

Preschool is filled with learning opportunities every day. The classroom can be a learning laboratory where science can engage a youngsters mind for inquiry and exploration and make connections with healthy habits such as good eating practices.

LAUP is a RENEW (Renew Environments for Nutrition Exercise and Wellness) LA County grantee and has developed a project aimed at cultivating healthy choices in physical activity and nutrition in preschools throughout its network. LAUP began working with a cluster of pilot sites in February of this year, focusing on implementing policy change in preschools to encourage physical activity and healthy eating practices in the learning environment.
